Academic Technology Implementation

In 2016, Fort Hays State University made the decision to contract with Workday as our partner with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. I began working to implement Workday functionality in 2016 while serving as graduate dean. In late 2016, we successfully launched the Recruiting and Admissions module for Workday for graduate admissions.

Following our institutional launch of Recruiting and Admissions, we next launched Human Resources, Finance, and Payroll. In December 2019, after two years of design, configuration, validation, and testing, we successfully launched the first module of Workday Student – curriculum management. I served as the functional lead for curriculum management for Workday Student. From a technical change standpoint, this experience has taught me a great deal about the complexities of data conversion, integrations, and the complexity of these systems. From a cultural change view, I have new respect for our staff who work within these systems and the challenges they face on a daily basis through the student life cycle from recruitment to graduation. This experience has greatly influenced by thinking about large scale change projects.

In the 2019, I also led the implementation of our new course evaluation system by eXplorance Blue.
