Dr. Tim Crowley is Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Central Missouri (UCM). Direct reports include four academic college deans, the vice provost for academic programs and dean of graduate studies, vice provost for online and extended studies, dean of the library, assistant vice provost for admissions and analytics, director of academic affairs operations, director of university farms, and the executive director for corporate relations. He is responsible for approximately 650 faculty and staff and an overall annual budget of $90 million. Prior to his appointment as Provost/VPAA, he served as Interim Provost/VPAA and Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Dean of Graduate Studies.
For almost 22 years, he served at Fort Hays State University in multiple administrative positions, beginning as department chair and concluding as Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.
Dr. Crowley is most proud of building teams of high-performing directors, leading his area through budget development cycles of growth and contraction, leading UCM to HLC reaffirmation of accreditation with no monitoring, leading university change initiatives in the areas of academic leadership training, analytics and academic technology implementation, strategic planning, credit for prior learning, general education, graduate and international enrollment management, and student success. He is a versatile academic leader known for his project management skills, patience, relationship-building abilities, and collaborative approach.
Dr. Crowley has created the conditions for significant growth of graduate education programming at two regional comprehensive institutions. He has facilitated the development of several campus-based degree programs into programs available at a distance, the development of interdisciplinary graduate programming, partnerships, and the approval of a professional doctoral degree.
He began his academic career in 1995 as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Technology at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in music performance from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in music composition from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. He has served as a Visiting Evaluator for the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and as a Peer Reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission.
